Good morning.Fayette County school officials state that the local public school district will officially end its fiscal year deeply in the red. Acting Finance Director Amy Smith confirmed that systemic accounting errors over the past two years led the district to overstate its tax collections by eight and a half million dollars. To balance the massive deficit, administrators have already eliminated one hundred twenty positions and will seek a ninety-five million dollar short-term emergency loan while selling off surplus district buildings.Meanwhile, a prominent Central Kentucky homicide case is set to receive national true-crime coverage this week.
