Ryanair CEO Addresses Passenger Injury Incident: The Facts and Response

The CEO of Ryanair recently addressed the incident involving a passenger who was injured during a flight in July. Ljubisa Karovic sustained injuries to his neck and shoulder, as well as friction burns, when a window shattered shortly after takeoff on a flight from Greece to Germany. While Karovic's wife and witnesses claimed he was partially sucked out of the window due to a pressure drop, the airline's CEO, Michael O'Leary, disputed this account. O'Leary acknowledged Karovic's injuries and stated that he was entitled to compensation, but not an excessive amount. The incident occurred when a broken fan blade from the plane's engine struck the window, causing it to shatter and resulting in damage to the aircraft. Despite the dramatic circumstances, Karovic had his seat belt on, and passengers were able to assist in preventing further harm by using a metal box to block the missing window. The plane was able to return safely to Greece after the incident.
