Jay-Z in 8: A Deep Dive into the Rapper's Music and Life

Jay-Z premiered his HBO documentary series, "Jay-Z in 8," at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York on Sept. 13. The event was attended by his wife Beyoncé, Tina Knowles, and other celebrities, all dressed in black tie attire. The rapper, accompanied by his longtime friend and producer Rick Rubin, delves into his music, lyrics, life experiences, and creative journey in the upcoming docuseries. The first two episodes will air on HBO Max on Sept. 18.

The red carpet event saw Jay-Z looking sharp in a tuxedo, setting the stage for a night filled with star-studded appearances. Celebrities like Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Yo Gotti, Charlemagne tha God, Winnie Harlow, Gunna, and the film's director, Rick Rubin, graced the event. Although Beyoncé did not walk the red carpet, she and her mother joined the audience for the screening.

The trailer for "Jay-Z in 8" was released on Aug. 25, offering a glimpse into the eight-part series. Jay-Z, formerly known as JAŸ-Z, shared his early passion for music in the trailer, revealing that he started writing at the age of 9. The series will feature tracks from several of his iconic albums, spanning his extensive career in the music industry.

Following the premiere, Jay-Z concluded the European leg of his "Jay-Z 30" concert series with a grand show in Paris on Sept. 10, where he surprised the audience with special guests Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake. He is scheduled to perform two more shows in Los Angeles on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, continuing his musical journey.
