Tragic Shooting at Panera Bread: Victim Stalked by Illegal Immigrant

A tragic incident occurred outside a Panera Bread in Sacramento County, where a California woman, Shalini Thakur, was fatally shot by an illegal immigrant named Rohit Rohit. The Department of Homeland Security revealed that Rohit had been stalking Thakur for months and had a restraining order against him. After the shooting, Rohit took his own life when confronted by the police.

The DHS spokesperson blamed the Biden Administration for releasing the killer into the country and called for an end to reckless policies that endanger American lives. Thakur had reported Rohit's stalking behavior, which escalated to the point where she obtained a restraining order against him. Despite these measures, Rohit continued to harass her, leading to the tragic outcome.

Rohit's stalking of Thakur began in January, and he went to great lengths to control her life, including coercing her into marriage, isolating her from others, and making threats. He even obtained a copy of her apartment key to enter her home while she slept. Despite the restraining order issued in May, Rohit persisted in stalking Thakur until July, when the fatal incident occurred.

Thakur's mother expressed frustration with the lack of action by the authorities despite her daughter's repeated calls for help. Rohit had entered the U.S. illegally through Arizona in August 2023 and was arrested by Border Patrol. However, he was released as part of the Biden administration's policy to allow migrants into the country pending a court date.

The tragic outcome of this incident highlights the need for stricter enforcement of immigration policies and protection for victims of stalking and violence. The failure to prevent this tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of taking threats seriously and providing adequate support to those in danger.
