Clarifying My Beliefs: A Jewish Mother's Perspective on Recent Events
In the past week, I have been relatively quiet, which is not typical of me. I recently shared someone else's post about Macklemore's performance at Ed Sheeran's concert, and the response I received prompted me to address the situation. I want to clarify my beliefs and express my thoughts on the matter.
I want to emphasize that I was born Jewish, and I have always been open about my background. Unfortunately, many people have made assumptions about my beliefs based on a repost and the mention of the word "Jew." I want to set the record straight and share my true stance on the issues at hand.
I want to make it clear that I do not represent Israel or any government. My beliefs, as stated in October 2023, remain the same: Hamas is a terrorist organization, and I believe in protecting innocent lives and advocating for a future that respects the humanity and aspirations of Palestinians. I have dedicated myself to supporting children affected by conflict, regardless of their background, and I have witnessed the impact of war firsthand.
The incident that triggered my recent repost was Macklemore's actions at a concert, where he excluded Jewish individuals from his message. This prompted me to speak out, not to silence anyone but to express my concerns as a Jewish mother. I believe in standing up for what is right, even when it is unpopular, and I will continue to do so.
I have faced criticism in the past for speaking out on various issues, and I have always stood by my beliefs, even in the face of adversity. Now, I am standing up for my own community, knowing that it may be a lonely path. Despite the challenges, I will continue to advocate for what I believe in.
