Tragic Fire on M/V June Aster: Five Lives Lost in Palawan Vessel Incident
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening as a fire erupted on a vessel carrying over 100 passengers near a popular tourist destination in Palawan, Philippines. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) swiftly responded to the fire on M/V June Aster, which was located approximately 1.2 nautical miles northeast of Barangay Marcilla in Coron municipality. Distressing video footage shared by the coast guard depicted the vessel consumed by flames.
Following the fire, the PCG reported that five individuals lost their lives in the incident. Photos shared by the coast guard showed body bags being brought ashore. Fortunately, 42 individuals were rescued from the burning vessel. According to GMA News, the ship had a total of 117 passengers and 17 crew members on board at the time of the incident.
