The Mid-American Conference has filed an appeal regarding the outcome of the Michigan-Western Michigan football game, urging NCAA and College Football Playoff officials to acknowledge Western Michigan as the rightful winner. Michigan secured a 13-12 victory with a last-second Hail Mary pass, despite initial confusion over the game clock. The MAC Commissioner highlighted discrepancies in the replay protocol, emphasizing that the program feed clock should have been used to determine the remaining time. As a result, an additional play was granted, leading to Michigan's win. The MAC is now pushing for Western Michigan to be recognized as the true victor in rankings and selection processes. Michigan, previously ranked No. 16, fell out of the rankings following the game.
