Maritime Incident: Collision of Turkish-flagged Vessels in the Sea of Marmara
Two Turkish-flagged commercial vessels collided in the Sea of Marmara off Istanbul, with one ship losing contact. The incident involved the Turkish-flagged Alsu, heading to Aliaga, and the Turkish-flagged Tugberk Imamoglu, en route to Karadenizeregli. The collision occurred in the Silivri district of Istanbul early on Wednesday morning. Search and rescue efforts were initiated by coast guard ships and helicopters. The Alsu showed no visible damage, but contact with the Tugberk Imamoglu and its 10 crew members could not be established. The Tugberk Imamoglu, owned by Zeybe Denizcilik, operates as a bulk carrier, while the Alsu, owned by Ozpulathane Deniz Tasimaciligi, functions as a chemical tanker. The search and rescue operation is ongoing.
