FAA Extends Ban on Flights to Port-au-Prince, Haiti Due to Ongoing Instability
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended a ban on flights from the United States to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The FAA cited the ongoing instability in the capital city, primarily due to gang violence, as the reason for the ban. This ban was initially put in place in 2024 after flights arriving at Toussaint Louverture International Airport were targeted by gunfire. Despite the acknowledged violence, the Trump administration continues to deport individuals to Haiti. However, flights to other cities in Haiti, such as Cap-Haitien, are still permitted. The flight ban to Port-au-Prince is now in effect until March 2027.
