Review and Approval of Polling Sites for Tarrant County Midterm Election: What You Need to Know
Tarrant County commissioners are set to review and potentially approve 224 Election Day and 47 early voting polling sites for the upcoming Nov. 3 midterm election. The proposed plan includes more Election Day voting sites compared to the previous plan but fewer than the 2022 midterm election. Additionally, there are more early voting locations in the new proposal compared to the last plan but fewer than the 2022 election. The adjustments were made following a lengthy debate during an Aug. 4 commissioners meeting, which saw the removal of audience members and the arrest of former state lawmaker Lon Burnam.
During the meeting, over 100 people voiced their concerns and urged commissioners to reject the proposal, which would have reduced the number of early voting sites and Election Day sites compared to the 2022 midterm election. Commissioners criticized Tarrant County elections administrator Clinton Ludwig for not seeking community or party input when determining the number of voting sites. The ongoing debate over voting sites has been a recurring issue, with a similar vote in August 2025 resulting in changes to the number of polling locations.
The upcoming meeting to discuss the new proposal is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Tarrant County Administration Building. The decision on the proposed polling sites will have a significant impact on voter access and participation in the upcoming midterm election. It remains to be seen how the commissioners will address the concerns raised by the community and whether they will approve the proposed plan.
