Virginia Capitol Square Confederate Statue Removal Update

Crews are currently working to take down three Confederate-related statues from Virginia's Capitol Square. The statues in question depict Confederate General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, former Virginia Governor and Confederate General William "Extra Billy" Smith, and Confederate Army surgeon Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire. State Senator Adam Ebbin introduced legislation earlier this year to remove these statues, and although the bill did not pass, lawmakers addressed the issue in the budget and allocated funds for the removal process.
