Man Steals Rescue Truck from First Responders at Burning Home: Charges and Consequences
A man from New Hampshire is facing a series of charges after allegedly stealing a rescue truck from first responders who were at his burning home in Dalton. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 25, when State Troopers were assisting Dalton Fire & Rescue with a house fire and discovered that the homeowner, Nestor Roman II, had taken a Whitefield Fire & Rescue vehicle. Roman drove the stolen truck east on Faraway Road, where he collided with another fire engine, drove over water supply lines, and narrowly missed three firefighters. He also damaged wooden fences on two properties.
After receiving a report from a homeowner that the stolen rescue vehicle had crashed on their property and the suspect was trying to take items from the porch, troopers arrived and found Roman on the porch, leading to his arrest. Roman faces charges including reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, obstructing government administration, felony theft, conduct after an accident, burglary, and resisting arrest and detention. The incident highlights the seriousness of the charges and the potential dangers posed by such actions.
