Beware of Boise Fraudsters: Love and Chan's Deceptive Investment Scheme Exposed

Two individuals, Daejon Labrayae Love and Taylor Jamie Chan, have been arrested in Boise, Idaho for their involvement in a fraudulent scheme targeting women with fake investment opportunities. Love allegedly created fake personas on social media, including that of a successful NFL player for the San Francisco 49ers and a wealthy real estate investor, to deceive victims into believing in lavish lifestyles. Chan posed as Love's financial adviser to further gain the victims' trust and validate the investments.

The scheme, which began in February 2022, involved Love creating fictitious bank and investment accounts with inflated balances to deceive victims. Love convinced victims that they were in romantic relationships with him, portraying himself as a sophisticated investor with Chan as his adviser. Victims were persuaded to invest money in nonexistent investment vehicles, with some even taking out personal loans at Love's direction.

After victims sent money to Love and Chan, they did not receive any returns or investment information. Love would block communication with victims once they had no more money to invest or asked too many questions, but he retained the funds. The Department of Justice reported that Love and Chan stole approximately $1.3 million from at least 26 victims in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California, with the possibility of more victims.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the scheme or who may have been a victim to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-CALL-FBI. This fraudulent scheme highlights the importance of being cautious and verifying investment opportunities to avoid falling victim to financial scams.
