Man Accused of Running Child Pornography Ring from Sailboat Arrested in Canada
A man accused of running a child pornography ring from his sailboat has been arrested in Canada. Donald Steven Lang, 62, allegedly produced explicit images of a minor on his boat named the Ishi. Lang, an amateur sailor known for cruising around the world, was apprehended after fleeing his home port in Hawaii. Authorities launched a global manhunt for him, offering a $5,000 bounty for his capture.
Lang, a dual US-Canadian citizen, had ties to various locations, including Hawaii, Idaho, Washington state, California, Fiji, the Marquesas Islands, Mexico, and Canada. He was also wanted for alleged sexual assault of a minor in Idaho between 2003 and 2007. Lang, who has multiple tattoos on his body, was last seen on his sailboat in Hawaii in January 2025.
The FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police collaborated to apprehend Lang. He faces federal charges for producing explicit images of a minor and could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Lang is currently in custody in Canada and is undergoing extradition proceedings to return to the US for prosecution.
