United States Removes Syria's Terrorism Designation and Revokes HTS Terrorist Organization Status: Sanctions Relief and Policy Updates
The United States has officially removed Syria's designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism and the designation of Syria's Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) as a terrorist organization. This decision was made in line with President Trump's promise to provide sanctions relief to Syria. The U.S. Department of State rescinded Syria's terrorism designation and revoked the designation of HTS as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization.
