Enhancing ADA Accommodations: Ison Sewell's Journey to Accessibility at the University of Utah

Ison Sewell and his wife attended a Post Malone concert in Utah in September 2024. Sewell filed a lawsuit against the University of Utah for not providing proper ADA accommodations at a Post Malone concert in April 2025. After nearly a year, Sewell dropped the case, with the university agreeing to enhance its ADA training and ticket sales. Sewell, who is deaf, shared details of the changes in a video on Instagram, accompanied by his lawyer, Jared Allebest, who is also deaf. The university agreed to provide three ADA tickets and American Sign Language interpreters for the Post Malone show on July 28. Sewell expressed satisfaction with the improvements and rated the experience 10 out of 10. Additionally, he received a monetary settlement from the university, which did not admit liability in the situation. Another deaf individual came forward to support Sewell's case after reading about it in The Tribune. Sewell emphasized the importance of being the change one wants to see in the world.
