State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Distributes $5 Billion Cash Dividend to Auto Policyholders

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is providing a one-time $5 billion cash dividend to qualifying auto policyholders. The dividend, which has already been distributed to millions of customers, covers over 49 million State Farm Mutual auto vehicles. Each customer's payment is based on their 2025 premium for a qualifying policy, with the percentage varying between 4% and 10% depending on the state where the policy is held.

The company's President and CEO, Jon Farney, emphasized State Farm Mutual's commitment to putting customers first by offering lower auto rates and a substantial policyholder dividend. The dividend was made possible by the company's financial strength and better-than-expected underwriting performance. As a mutual company owned by policyholders, State Farm can return surplus funds directly to its customers.

Eligible customers will be contacted via email or mailed letters, and they can also check their payment amount by logging into their State Farm account online. Payments can be received as a paper check or electronically. Policyholders do not need to take any action to receive the dividend, and the process of distributing payments to all eligible policyholders nationwide will take several months.

State Farm assures customers that accepting the dividend will not impact their future auto insurance premiums. Policyholders with inquiries about the dividend can contact support by phone or visit the designated website. In Louisiana, State Farm will distribute around $136 million to eligible drivers, as confirmed by the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner.

Ranked No. 32 on the 2025 Fortune 500 list, State Farm serves over 96 million policies and accounts across various coverage lines, including auto, home, and life insurance. The company's customer-focused approach and financial strength enable it to provide value directly to policyholders while maintaining a solid foundation for the future.
