Secret 7" Record Auction: Unveiling Artistic Masterpieces for War Child's Cause

War Child U.K. has launched the 10th edition of its Secret 7″ record auction, featuring 700 unique sleeves designed by renowned artists and tracks from musicians like John Lennon, the Last Dinner Party, Glass Animals, and more. Each record includes a mystery song on 7″ vinyl, enclosed in a sleeve inspired by the music. The identity of the song and the artist behind the sleeve remain undisclosed until the winning bidder receives their record. The auction is currently live, with all proceeds supporting War Child’s efforts to provide mental health support, aid, education, and protection to vulnerable children worldwide.
This year's auction features songs such as John Lennon's "Out the Blue," The Last Dinner Party's "Let's Do It Again!," Gabrielle's "Out of Reach," The Maccabees' "No Kind Words," Skin's "Purple," Glass Animals' "Take a Slice," and Bastille's "Hope for the Future." The sleeve designs were contributed by a diverse group of artists, including Clare Twomey MBE, Thierry Noir, Murugiah, Joy Yamusangie, Ben Kelly, Orlando Weeks, Mike Snelle, James Golding, Justine Frischmann, Ken Nwadiogbu, Pete Fowler, Andy Vella, and more. The exhibition showcasing the sleeves is currently on display at London's 180 Studios until Aug. 30, with the online auction running until Sept. 2.
War Child's fundraising and engagement director, Charlotte Nimmo, emphasized the impact of creativity in driving positive change, especially in conflict-affected regions. The collaboration between visual and musical artists in this campaign highlights War Child's mission to advocate for children's rights in conflict zones. The exhibition in August aims to celebrate the fusion of art and activism, showcasing the remarkable talent that supports War Child's cause.
