Stellantis Announces Global Recall of 955,000 Vehicles for Radio Software Issue Impacting Rear-View Cameras
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced a global recall of 955,000 vehicles due to radio software issues affecting rear-view cameras. The recall affects a variety of 2026 and 2027 models in the United States, including Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, Voyager, Dodge Charger, Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Wrangler, and Ram 1500, 2500, and ProMaster vehicles. Additionally, approximately 107,000 vehicles in Canada, Mexico, and other markets are included in the recall.
Affected vehicle owners will receive an over-the-air radio software update through a prompt on the vehicle's media screen once the update is available. Stellantis emphasized that there have been no reported accidents or injuries related to the recall. In the event that the rear-view camera image is not displayed, drivers are advised to rely on their rear-view and side mirrors when reversing.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandated rear-view cameras in all light-duty vehicles by 2018 to reduce backover crashes, which were responsible for an average of 210 deaths and 15,000 injuries annually in the United States. Approximately 30% of these fatalities involved children aged 5 or younger.
