Colombia Se Levanta: Supporting Long-Term Recovery After the Earthquake

Following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Colombia on August 10th, J Balvin’s Vibra En Alta Foundation has teamed up with Presentes Corporación and Proantioquia to launch the "Colombia Se Levanta" campaign. This initiative aims to provide resources for the long-term recovery and reconstruction of the communities affected by the earthquake, focusing on the often overlooked phase of disaster recovery that requires significant funding and attention.

Emergency response experts have noted that while immediate response efforts receive substantial donations and attention in the aftermath of a disaster, the rebuilding process can take several years and requires substantial resources. The "Colombia Se Levanta" campaign recognizes this reality and seeks to address the critical need for sustained support during the reconstruction phase.

The Vibra En Alta Foundation has already taken steps to provide immediate aid to the affected areas by partnering with Fundación Días Para Contar and AWOO Team to deliver humanitarian supplies. The foundation's efforts are now expanding to focus on the long-term reconstruction needs of the communities, in collaboration with Presentes Corporación and Proantioquia.

"Colombia Se Levanta" aims to break the cycle of post-disaster donations declining after the initial emergency phase, leaving communities with insufficient resources for long-term recovery. The campaign emphasizes the importance of sustained investment in rebuilding homes, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure to support the affected communities in the months and years ahead.

Communities in Pereira, Cali, Manizales, and the Chocó region, which were already facing economic challenges, now require ongoing support for their reconstruction efforts. Donors are encouraged to look beyond the immediate crisis and commit to supporting the communities throughout their recovery process.

Donations to "Colombia Se Levanta" can be made through specific channels based on the donor's location. For donations from Colombia, visit presentes.co/abastecimiento-de-agua-en-comunidades-damnificadas/donacion/colombiaselevanta. For donations from the United States, visit givetocolombia.org/colombia-selevanta. Every contribution will play a crucial role in supporting the long-term recovery of Colombia's earthquake-affected communities, ensuring they receive the necessary resources for rebuilding and recovery.
