Duct Tape Dress: A Teen's Creative Tribute to the U.S. Constitution
A talented teenager from Madison, Kansas, Emma Fankhauser, recently showcased her creativity by crafting a stunning duct tape dress inspired by the U.S. Constitution and the Revolutionary Period. Using nine rolls of tape and dedicating over 80 hours to the project, Fankhauser's dress caught the attention of Duck Brand's Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest. She was awarded the Red, White & Made by You award and received a $250 scholarship for her exceptional work. Despite being an experienced seamstress, Fankhauser faced challenges while working with the duct tape material, including issues with her sewing machine due to the thickness and stickiness of the layers.
Fankhauser credits her keen eye for design to her family, particularly her mother, who is a fashion designer. Growing up, her mother encouraged her to work on sewing projects, which eventually led Fankhauser to explore her own creative endeavors. She expressed gratitude for her mother's support and guidance in honing her skills in fashion and design.
