Shake Shack Employee Accused of Armed Robbery and Kidnapping at Arizona Restaurant
An employee at a Shake Shack in Arizona is accused of robbing the restaurant at gunpoint, locking two coworkers in a walk-in cooler, and then returning to work in uniform just two days later. The suspect, Keondre Simmons, allegedly called out of work before showing up at the restaurant to commit the robbery.
The armed robbery took place when an employee opened a rear delivery door, believing a scheduled delivery had arrived. The suspect pointed a firearm at the employee, ordered him inside, and locked him in the walk-in cooler. The on-duty manager was also forced into the office to open the safe under threat of a firearm.
Both victims managed to escape the cooler, but the suspect returned, ordered them to kneel at gunpoint, and confiscated their cellphones. The suspect was later identified as Simmons, who was arrested at the Shake Shack two days after the robbery while wearing his work uniform.
Simmons admitted to discarding the clothing worn during the incident and revealed that a firearm was inside his residence. He is facing charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and kidnapping and is scheduled to appear in court on August 25.
