Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT - A Benefit Compilation for Immigrant Rights
A group of renowned artists, including Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Tom Morello, and Fred Armisen, have come together for a benefit compilation called Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT. The compilation, set to be released on October 2 by SoundsGood Records, will support the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Unión del Barrio. Featuring exclusive and unreleased music, the collaboration aims to raise funds for immigrant rights and combat ICE's inhumane actions. The lineup includes Jello Biafra, Ozomatli, Money Mark, and David J, among others. Limited edition vinyl of the compilation is available for pre-order, with digital and CD versions also available, including a premium vinyl version signed by some of the artists.
The first single from the compilation is a cover of DJ Snake and Justin Bieber's "Let Me Love You," featuring Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Money Mark, Fred Ortiz, and Frank Figueroa. The track was produced by Mario Caldato Jr. and marks a significant collaboration for Hanna. A day-long event featuring performances by artists from the compilation will take place on October 3 at La Cita in Los Angeles, with tickets going on sale on August 14.
BAMC, a non-profit organization that empowers vulnerable communities through artistic expression, curated the compilation. The founder, Dali Colorado, emphasized the importance of music and justice in the project, highlighting the urgent need for action against fascism and white supremacy. The tracklist for Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT includes a diverse range of artists and genres, offering a powerful listening experience that reflects themes of grief, anger, resilience, hope, and action.
