Toyota Camry Safety Recall: Digital Display Software Issue Affects 508,000 Vehicles
Toyota has announced a safety recall for around 508,000 Camry sedans from the model years 2025 and 2026 in the United States due to a digital display software issue. The problem affects vehicles with 7.0-inch digital combination meters that may go dark when the engine starts, causing critical driving information to disappear. This software error can also temporarily disable important safety features like seatbelt reminders and turn signal indicators.
The recall specifically targets certain trim levels of the Camry models. Higher-tier hybrid trims like the XLE and XSE, which come with a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, are not included in this recall. Toyota plans to notify affected owners by mail in early October, instructing them to visit an authorized dealership for a free software update for the combination meter.
To determine if their vehicle is part of the recall, owners can check the Toyota or NHTSA websites and enter their 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). It is crucial for affected Camry owners to follow the recall instructions to ensure the safety and functionality of their vehicles.
