HBCU Football Rematch: Delaware State vs. Norfolk State at Lincoln Financial Field
Former Eagles DeSean Jackson and Michael Vick's college football teams will meet again in Philadelphia later this year. Delaware State University will face Norfolk State University at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. The teams previously played in the inaugural HBCU Battle of Legends on Oct. 30, 2025, with Delaware State winning 27-20. Delaware State had a successful 2025 season under head coach DeSean Jackson, finishing with an 8-4 record and earning national recognition in the FCS polls.
Norfolk State, led by head coach Michael Vick, will seek redemption in the upcoming rematch against Delaware State. The game is set to be the highlight of an extended weekend of HBCU events at Lincoln Financial Field, featuring university marching bands, a step show, fan engagement zone, and a student opportunity fair. The weekend will kick off with a game between Virginia Union University and Lincoln University on Friday, Oct. 30, as part of One Philly HBCU Week.
Philadelphia has a rich history of historically Black colleges and universities, with Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and Lincoln University being the nation's two oldest HBCUs. Mayor Cherelle Parker emphasized the importance of HBCUs in shaping future leaders and providing opportunities for young people.
