Resolution Hearing Scheduled in Case of Wisconsin Teen Accused of Killing 10-Year-Old Cousin
A Wisconsin teenager accused of killing his 10-year-old cousin, Lily Peters, in 2022 may not go to trial in November as a resolution hearing has been scheduled in the case. Carson Peters-Berger, 18, was set to face trial on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and sexual assault in connection with Lily's death more than four years ago.
The Chippewa County District Attorney's Office announced that a resolution hearing is set for August 26, indicating that the case may conclude without a trial. The nature of the resolution to be presented during the hearing is not yet disclosed.
Lily was reported missing by her father on April 24, 2022, after she didn't return home from her aunt's house. Her body was later found near where her bicycle was discovered, showing injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.
During an interview with police, Peters-Berger allegedly confessed to assaulting Lily, including punching her, striking her with a stick, strangling her, and attempting to sexually assault her after her death. He faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, sexual assault, and assault of a child under 13.
