Amazon Prime Antitrust Settlement: Claim Your Compensation Before the Deadline
Amazon Prime customers have the opportunity to receive compensation as part of a $2.5 billion antitrust settlement, with a looming deadline for filing claims. The settlement stems from allegations that Amazon pressured customers into Prime subscriptions and made it challenging to cancel. While some users may have already received payments in the initial phase, a second payout is available for those who file a claim before the upcoming deadline. Despite denying wrongdoing, Amazon chose to settle and is focused on simplifying the cancellation process for customers.
The lawsuit against Amazon, filed in 2023, highlighted the company's practices of enrolling customers in Prime without easy cancellation options. Amazon settled with the FTC without admitting liability, aiming to address customer concerns. To be eligible for compensation, customers must meet four specific conditions and file a claim online through the designated portal by the deadline of Monday, July 27, 2026. Approved claims could result in payments of up to $51, depending on the duration of active Prime membership during the specified period. Amazon will review claims within 30 days of submission and distribute payments by September.
