A 16-year-old suspect from Apalachee High School is set to enter a non-negotiated plea deal and face sentencing later this month, according to court documents. Colt Gray, who previously pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children, is scheduled to appear in court on July 24 at 9 a.m. The incident occurred on September 4, 2024, when Colt, then 14, allegedly opened fire at his high school in Winder, Barrow County, resulting in the deaths of teachers and students, as well as injuries to others. Colt's father, Colin Gray, was also found guilty of various charges related to the shooting after his trial in March. The court date was set shortly after the announcement that jury selection would begin in October using Columbia County residents.
