Unique Baby Names: A Family Tradition of Naming Children After the Days of the Week

Each week, the TODAY Parents team features a unique baby name or a set of sibling names with an interesting story behind them. When Britney Donley became a mother at 20, she named her first child Sunday after asking a nurse what day it was following labor. This sparked a tradition where each of her seven children was named after the day they were born: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The names have drawn attention from strangers, but for Donley, they symbolize the close bond she wanted her children to share, transcending their different biological fathers. The children, who do everything together, have embraced their names and feel special because of them. While Donley doesn't plan to have more biological children, she hopes to become a foster or adoptive parent in the future.
