Introducing the Shawn Mendes Signature Guitars: A Tribute to Vintage Martin Excellence
C. F. Martin & Co.® has introduced two new signature guitars in collaboration with Shawn Mendes, the limited-edition 000-28 Shawn Mendes and the Road Series 000-10E Shawn Mendes. These guitars draw inspiration from a vintage Martin guitar from the 1920s that Shawn Mendes used in his songwriting and recording process. Shawn's love for Martin guitars led to the creation of these two models, offering players an intimate feel and vintage details for a modern experience.
Shawn Mendes, a longtime Martin player, expressed his deep connection to Martin guitars, stating that they feel like they hold stories and songs within them. The inspiration for the new signature models stemmed from a vintage Martin 0-42 that Shawn discovered in a Brooklyn guitar shop. This discovery led to the development of two full-size 000 models, one being a limited-edition Style 28 guitar and the other a more accessible acoustic-electric option for performance.
The 000-28 Shawn Mendes is a highly limited guitar, with only 88 units available worldwide. It features solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, a solid spruce top with antique toner, herringbone trim, and Golden Era scalloped X-bracing. Vintage-inspired elements such as a pyramid-style ebony bridge, faux tortoise pickguard, and slotted headstock with gold Waverly® side-mount tuners add to its unique appeal. The guitar also includes Shawn's custom mother-of-pearl eagle inlay on the ebony fingerboard, symbolizing freedom and creativity.
On the other hand, the 000-10E Shawn Mendes offers a more accessible option for a wider range of players. Made entirely with FSC®-certified tonewoods, this Road Series guitar features solid sapele back and sides, a solid spruce top, and scalloped X-bracing for a warm and balanced tone. It includes signature details like a faux tortoise pickguard, an eagle inlay made from FSC-certified sapele, and a straightline pyramid bridge. The guitar is equipped with Martin E1 electronics and a built-in tuner for recording and performance purposes.
Both models reflect Shawn Mendes' belief that a great songwriting guitar should be versatile enough to handle different playing styles, from gentle fingerpicking to powerful strumming. The release of these guitars also supports the Shawn Mendes Foundation, which aims to empower and uplift youth changemakers and their organizations.
The 000-28 Shawn Mendes and 000-10E Shawn Mendes are now available through authorized Martin dealers and on the Martin Guitar website. These guitars represent a continuation of Shawn Mendes' collaboration with Martin and his dedication to inspiring young people through music and positive change.
