He highlighted opportunities for collaboration in clean energy, nuclear power, and infrastructure during the India-Australia CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Reception in Melbourne. India aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2070, and Australia's technology, capital, and resources can help accelerate this transition.
PM Modi also mentioned the scope for cooperation in civil nuclear energy, with India targeting 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy capacity by 2047. He invited Australian investors to participate in India's infrastructure growth, particularly in sectors like ports, airports, roads, railways, and urban infrastructure. The visit is expected to strengthen business ties and partnerships, especially in critical minerals and supply chain areas.
The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Melbourne marked the second leg of Modi's three-nation visit to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. The visit aims to enhance cooperation in defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, and people-to-people ties. Discussions will also focus on emerging and critical technologies, sports, and sports science to deepen bilateral cooperation.
After concluding his engagements in Australia, Prime Minister Modi will travel to New Zealand, the final leg of his three-nation tour. The visit underscores the importance of strengthening ties between India and these countries to foster collaboration in various sectors and promote mutual growth and development.
