Beyoncé Drops Surprise Single 'Morning Dew (Donk)' to Kick Off B'Day Anniversary Celebration

Beyoncé delighted fans by dropping her latest single, “Morning Dew (Donk),” unexpectedly after a two-year hiatus. The song was released on streaming platforms on the Fourth of July, along with a lyric video featuring archival footage directed by Cliff Watts, a longtime collaborator. The new release kicks off a 60-day countdown to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyoncé’s 2006 album ‘B’Day,’ with a deluxe reissue scheduled for Sept. 4, coinciding with Beyoncé’s birthday.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” was co-written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, with production credits going to Beyoncé and Pharrell. Originally recorded during the B’Day era, the track remained unreleased for nearly two decades. Parkwood Entertainment described the single as a tribute to Beyoncé’s loyal BeyHive in anticipation of the upcoming celebration of B’Day and confirmed its inclusion in the anniversary edition of the album.
The surprise release of “Morning Dew (Donk)” sparked widespread online discussions, with fans excited about the official release of a long-rumored song from Beyoncé’s catalog. While some speculated that the single could be a teaser for Beyoncé’s anticipated “Act III” project, Parkwood clarified that the release is part of the B’Day anniversary campaign and not a new studio album.
