The talks are crucial as Kyiv aims to draw Trump's focus back to the conflict with Moscow, while Trump has been contemplating Syria's role in the Middle East. The White House spokesperson, Anna Kelly, confirmed these meetings and also mentioned Trump's scheduled meeting with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday in Ankara. Additionally, Trump is expected to hold a news conference before returning to the United States on Wednesday.
