Jermaine Jackson's $6.5 Million Default Judgment Voided in Rape Case Due to Legal Name Issue

Jermaine Jackson has been relieved of a $6.5 million default judgment in a rape case against him. The judgment was voided by a judge because the plaintiff did not use his legal name, Jermaine LaJuane Jacksun, when trying to serve him the lawsuit. Rita Butler Barrett accused Jermaine of violently raping her in 1988 at her home in Encino, California. Despite efforts to locate Jermaine for the lawsuit, including publishing legal notices in the Los Angeles Times, he was not properly served. Jermaine argued that the default judgment should be overturned due to the incorrect name and location used in the legal notices. The judge agreed and gave Jermaine 10 days to respond to the complaint. Stay tuned for updates on the case.
