Howie Dorough of Backstreet Boys Releases Spanish-Language Solo Single 'Coqui' and Reimagines Band's Hits in Latin Arrangements

Howie Dorough, a member of the Backstreet Boys, has released a new Spanish-language solo single titled "Coqui," which is part of a project that involves reimagining Backstreet Boys hits in Spanish with Latin arrangements. The idea for this project came from fans who expressed their desire for Spanish versions of the songs. Howie, who is of Puerto Rican descent, saw this as an opportunity to showcase his pride in his heritage and pass on the culture to his children. Despite his initial plans to become fluent in Spanish, his music career with the Backstreet Boys took precedence. He collaborated with a co-writer from the Dominican Republic to adapt songs like "I Want It That Way" and "As Long as You Love Me."

The other members of the Backstreet Boys have been supportive of Howie's project, which includes new original songs like "Coqui," named after the native frog of Puerto Rico. Howie describes the sound of the Coqui frog as a beautiful and memorable part of Puerto Rican culture that stays with you even after leaving the island. In addition to his solo endeavors, Howie and the Backstreet Boys are set to resume their Into the Millennium residency at Sphere Las Vegas in July. While there are currently no plans for future dates beyond August 29, Howie remains hopeful for more opportunities to perform with the group in the future. The impressive venue at Sphere Las Vegas adds to the excitement and anticipation for potential future shows.
