NOT ALONE: Illumination's New Animated Film Starring Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez
Illumination is set to release a new animated film titled NOT ALONE, scheduled to hit theaters on April 16, 2027. The movie features a star-studded voice cast including Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez. NOT ALONE is a unique project from the studio known for popular films like Despicable Me, Minions, Sing, The Secret Life of Pets, Migration, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The story follows Joe, a reserved rocket mechanic, and Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist working on a plant-fueled rocket. When they come together to prepare for the rocket's launch, their awkward connection is further complicated by the arrival of three small aliens seeking refuge in Joe's home. The aliens, Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, are on the run from an inept officer named Zandro and believe Fran's rocket is their ticket home.
Timothée Chalamet takes on the role of Joe in his first animated feature film, while Selena Gomez voices Fran. The alien trio is portrayed by Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou, with Brett Goldstein voicing the pursuing officer Zandro. The film also features Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris in supporting roles.
NOT ALONE is directed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val, with Chris Meledandri serving as the producer. Illumination, known for its successful animated franchises like Minions and Despicable Me, is venturing into new territory with this original story that combines romance, science fiction, comedy, and alien adventures.
