Bundles of Joy: Miami Valley Hospital's Labor and Delivery Unit Sets Record with Seventeen Expectant Nurses

The Labor and Delivery Unit at Premier Health in Dayton, Ohio, is gearing up for a busy period as seventeen nurses at Miami Valley Hospital are expecting babies, setting a new record for the unit. The nurses, including Rileigh Batten and Kelby Strapp Meese, are at various stages of pregnancy, with due dates spanning from June to December. The nurses are excited to share this experience together, with some of them being first-time mothers. The hospital is well-prepared to handle the increased workload, with a large team of nurses and supportive leadership in place to ensure seamless coverage during their maternity leaves.
Amberly Saner, the nurse manager, acknowledges that this is the first time she has seen so many nurses expecting at once. With nearly 200 nurses on the unit and additional PRN staff available, the hospital is confident in its ability to provide quality care to patients even when some nurses are on maternity leave. The supportive leadership team is ready to step in and assist whenever needed. The nurses are grateful to be in a place where they can receive care and support during their pregnancies and deliveries.
This new record of seventeen pregnant nurses surpasses the unit's previous record of eleven nurses expecting at the same time in 2019. The nurses are looking forward to welcoming their little ones into the world and are grateful for the camaraderie and support they have found among their colleagues. The hospital is proud to celebrate this special time with its dedicated and caring nursing staff, who continue to provide exceptional care to patients while also preparing for the arrival of their own bundles of joy.
