Operation Ghazab lil-Haq: Pakistan's Counter-Terrorism Success Along the Afghan Border

Pakistan's Information Minister Ataullah Tarar announced a successful intelligence-based ground operation along the Pakistan-Afghan border targeting terrorists from Jamaatul Ahrar and Fitna al Khawarij. The operation was in response to recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Balochistan, and Karachi. Security forces also conducted precise strikes in the border region, resulting in the elimination of 29 terrorists. The attack on a Pakistan Rangers Sindh headquarters in Karachi led to the martyrdom of three security personnel, with the ISPR attributing the attack to Jamaatul Ahrar. One terrorist was arrested, revealing ties to Indian proxies.

Tarar highlighted the operation's success in neutralizing high-value targets, including Commander Khan Farosh, and destroying terrorist camps and hideouts. The strikes targeted Jamaatul Ahrar and Fitna al Khawarij in the border region, resulting in the deaths of 25 terrorists and the destruction of weapons and ammunition stockpiles. Pakistan remains committed to peace and security while prioritizing the safety of its citizens. The counter-terrorism campaign, under the vision "Azm e Istehkam," will continue to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan have been linked to the resurgence of terrorism following the Afghan Taliban's return to power in Kabul. Pakistan has urged the Taliban administration to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, particularly those associated with the banned TTP. Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was initiated in response to unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban, with temporary pauses observed during Eidul Fitr. The operation will continue until its objectives are achieved, with de-escalation efforts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye influencing the operational pauses.

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the importance of the Taliban regime renouncing support for terrorism to maintain peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan. China has been mediating between the two countries, hosting meetings to address animosities and promote dialogue. The ongoing efforts aim to foster stability and security in the region, emphasizing the need for cooperation and mutual understanding between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
