JetBlue Enhances West Coast Service with Mint Premium Cabin Expansion and Increased Fort Lauderdale Flights

JetBlue is reintroducing its nonstop flights between San Diego and Fort Lauderdale, with daily departures scheduled for 11 a.m. The airline is enhancing the experience by adding its Mint premium cabin, featuring lie-flat seating and curated dining. JetBlue will be the only carrier offering a business-class product on this route. Tickets are available for purchase on JetBlue's website and mobile app, with TrueBlue members eligible for 2,500 bonus points if they book by Sunday.
In addition to the San Diego-Fort Lauderdale route, JetBlue is expanding its Mint service on the West Coast, including more premium offerings from Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline is increasing its daily departures from Fort Lauderdale by over 75% this year and plans to operate around 150 daily flights from the South Florida airport by winter. This growth represents the largest Mint schedule from Fort Lauderdale in JetBlue's history.
Despite facing financial challenges, including a net loss of $319 million in the first quarter of 2026, JetBlue is focusing on Florida-focused growth to target higher-yield leisure and holiday travel demand. The airline has adjusted its baggage fees in response to rising jet fuel costs, with checked bags priced at $39 on off-peak days and up to $49 during peak travel periods. Customers can benefit from lower costs by prepaying online or qualifying through status benefits.
JetBlue's expansion of premium services and increased flight offerings demonstrate its commitment to providing travelers with more options and comfort on key West Coast routes. As the airline navigates financial difficulties, its strategic focus on Florida growth aims to capitalize on leisure and holiday travel demand in the region.
