Unveiling the Pont Neuf Cavern: A Surreal Art Installation in the Heart of Paris
A massive black mountain has been towering over the Seine River in Paris, concealing the Pont Neuf, the city's oldest bridge. The mountain has now opened its doors to reveal a monumental art installation inside. Visitors are greeted with a unique scent of earth and stone as they enter the dark passage filled with glowing cave photographs and a subtle electronic pulse. The Pont Neuf Cavern, created by French street artist JR, transforms the 17th-century bridge into an artificial cavern that rises 18 meters above the river, offering a surreal experience to visitors.
The immersive installation allows visitors to escape the bustling city and feel transported to an ancient place. The Pont Neuf Cavern is open for free access 24/7 until June 28, inviting people to explore the sensory journey it offers. The scent plays a crucial role in creating the illusion, with two distinct fragrances changing along the crossing, evoking the essence of wet earth, minerals, smoke, and animals.
