Capture of Fugitive Child Molester: Carl W. Cacconie Apprehended by Authorities

The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office and FBI Sacramento Field Office have successfully captured Carl W. Cacconie, a convicted child molester who had been on the run for almost 10 months. Cacconie was convicted by an El Dorado County jury in South Lake Tahoe on six counts of lewd acts against a child under 14 years old. Despite being out on bail, Cacconie disappeared before his sentencing date, leaving behind his belongings and a suicide note. A federal arrest warrant was issued for him in the Eastern District of California for fleeing to avoid confinement. After an extensive investigation, Cacconie was found in Scottsdale, Arizona, and apprehended by the FBI Phoenix Desert Hawk Fugitive Task Force. He will be extradited to California to face sentencing for his crimes. The authorities expressed gratitude for the community's support and the survivor's patience during the search for Cacconie.
