Music Teacher's Surprise Duet with Ed Sheeran at Ipswich Waterfront Gig

A music teacher from Chelmsford, Essex, flew back from her holiday in Malaga, Spain, to perform at a surprise gig in Ipswich Waterfront. Lianne Kaye, 30, was unaware that she would be duetting with Ed Sheeran until the day of the performance. Sheeran had teased the pop-up gig on Instagram the night before, drawing a large crowd of fans eager to see him perform in his hometown of Suffolk.

The gig was organized by a manufacturer who wanted to showcase upcoming songwriters and artists. Despite the last-minute nature of the collaboration, Kaye was thrilled to have the opportunity to perform with Sheeran, describing the experience as akin to "jamming with a mate." She expressed gratitude for being able to teach music and share her passion for singing with others.

Sheeran, who had spent nine months in the US, was excited to be back in Suffolk and surprised fans with the impromptu performance. Kaye, originally from Holbrook, Suffolk, had a serendipitous moment when she realized she would be performing with Sheeran after seeing his Instagram post while waiting for her delayed flight.

Having previously performed at BBC Introducing Suffolk and opened for Sir Tom Jones, Kaye is no stranger to the music scene. She considers herself fortunate to be able to pursue her love for music through teaching and performing. The unexpected duet with Sheeran was a memorable experience that she will cherish.
