Stellantis Recalls Over 1 Million Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators for Fire Risk: What Owners Need to Know

Stellantis is issuing a recall for more than 1 million Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators due to a potential fire risk. The affected vehicles, manufactured between 2021 and 2025, may have an electrical issue with the power steering pump wiring that could lead to overheating and potentially cause a vehicle fire. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures while Stellantis works on finding a solution.

The automaker is currently working on developing a remedy for the issue and anticipates having a solution by July. Once a solution is identified, Stellantis will notify owners via mail on how to schedule service at a dealership. The affected vehicles will be inspected, and if necessary, the wiring harness and power steering pump will be replaced.

This recall is part of a series of large recalls on Jeep products, particularly the plug-in hybrid versions of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, which also faced fire risks. Stellantis has previously recalled these hybrid vehicles multiple times for various issues, leading to the discontinuation of the plug-in hybrid line of vehicles by the end of 2025. The company will submit recall paperwork to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on June 9.

In conclusion, Stellantis is taking proactive measures to address the fire risk in over 1 million Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators. Owners are urged to park their vehicles safely while the automaker works on a solution, with plans to notify owners of the recall and provide necessary service at dealerships once a remedy is available.
