Meta's America's Workforce Academy: Training Louisiana Residents for AI Data Center Careers

Louisiana has been selected as one of the four locations in the country to host Meta's new initiative, "America's Workforce Academy," a training program designed to address the shortage of skilled workers needed for building AI data centers. The program offers Louisiana residents the opportunity to receive training for stable, high-demand careers while getting paid. Participants will undergo a 4-5 week bootcamp fully funded by Meta, covering tuition, airfare, lodging, and providing a daily stipend.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be guaranteed job offers from Meta contractor partners. Graduates will be immediately hired by the contractor partner and assigned to work on-site at Meta's data center construction sites. Meta's President and Vice-Chairman, Dina Powell McCormick, emphasized the historic opportunities presented by the AI revolution and the importance of skilled workers in securing American strength in the new age.
Meta plans to invest $115 million in America's Workforce Academy in its first year. The program has received overwhelming interest, with 35,000 applications submitted in the first seven days for only 1,000 available spots. Meta is collaborating with organizations like the National Urban League, the Associated Builders and Contractors, and CBRE, as well as community partners such as the Richland Parish Chamber of Commerce, to support the initiative.
Rachel Peterson, Vice President of Data Centers at Meta, highlighted the need for a skilled workforce to build the AI infrastructure. The America's Workforce Academy aims to create pathways for hundreds of thousands of skilled tradespeople, including electricians, mechanics, and fiber technicians. The program, in partnership with CBRE's LevelUp program, offers accessible opportunities for individuals to pursue careers in these fields.
