MS-13 Gang Members Convicted of Brutal Murders in Angeles National Forest: Justice Prevails in Federal Prosecution
Four individuals from Los Angeles County associated with the gang MS-13 have been found guilty of murdering three people using machetes in the Angeles National Forest. A federal jury convicted the men of racketeering conspiracy and violent crimes in aid of racketeering, potentially leading to life sentences in federal prison. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that the killings occurred between March and June 2017. The gang reportedly instructed its members to commit murder and extreme violence to advance within the organization. The victims were lured or abducted by the four men to the forest after allegedly disrespecting the gang in various ways, such as painting graffiti of a rival gang or leaving El Salvador without permission. The murders were carried out in a brutal manner, involving the use of machetes, according to federal prosecutors.
The Department of Justice has successfully prosecuted over 30 cases related to MS-13 murders, with five individuals previously convicted of six murders in the same forest. The gang's violent tactics and strict hierarchy have led to numerous convictions for similar crimes. The recent convictions highlight the gang's ruthless behavior and the consequences of defying its rules. The justice system continues to pursue those responsible for such heinous acts, seeking to bring them to justice and prevent further violence in the community.
