Cardi B Files Federal Lawsuit Against Tasha K's Husband for Asset Protection Scheme

Cardi B has initiated a federal civil lawsuit against Cheickna Kebe, the husband of YouTuber Tasha K, accusing him of being involved in a scheme to protect his wife's assets from a substantial judgment the rapper had won. The lawsuit was filed in May 2026, strategically timed to comply with a Florida law deadline. Cardi B has also requested a pause in the proceedings until Tasha K's separate bankruptcy case in Florida concludes.
The legal battle stems from a 2019 lawsuit where Cardi B sued Tasha K for defamation based on online videos containing false and damaging statements. A jury ruled in Cardi B's favor in 2022, awarding her nearly four million dollars. The recent lawsuit alleges that Kebe played a key role in preventing the payment of this judgment.
The lawsuit outlines two ways in which Kebe allegedly assisted his wife in safeguarding her assets from Cardi B. Firstly, a new business entity, Yelen Entertainment, was created to absorb the assets of Kebe Studios, the original entity responsible for the judgment payment. Secondly, Kebe is accused of redirecting Tasha K's earnings through the new business, removing her name from bank accounts, and transferring a property in Georgia to his name for one dollar.
The lawsuit highlights Kebe's acknowledgment of these actions during previous testimony, where he admitted to shutting down Kebe Studios due to the judgment and transferring the Georgia property to protect his wife's assets. Cardi B seeks the full judgment amount, interest, and requests to void asset transfers to Yelen Entertainment and the Georgia property transfer.
The decision to file the lawsuit now, while seeking a delay, reflects the complexity of pursuing a judgment debtor involved in bankruptcy proceedings. Cardi B's legal team aims to secure her options while monitoring Tasha K's financial situation through the bankruptcy process. Despite winning the defamation case years ago, the collection of the judgment remains uncertain.
