Recap of the 2026 American Music Awards: BTS, Sabrina Carpenter, and More Shine Bright

The 2026 American Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Memorial Day, where BTS emerged as one of the night's biggest winners. The K-pop group, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, won the Artist of the Year award and Song of the Summer for Swim. They also performed Hooligan and were named Best Male K-pop Artist. BTS presented SZA with the award for Best Female R&B Artist.
Sabrina Carpenter had a successful night, winning Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for Man's Best Friend. She also took home the Best Female Pop Artist title. The Song of the Year award went to Golden by KPop Demon Hunters (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI), who also won Best Pop Song and Best Vocal Performance. KPop Demon Hunters received the Best Soundtrack award.
Sombr had a breakthrough night, winning Best Rock/Alternative Song for back to friends and Best Rock/Alternative Album for I Barely Know Her. Justin Bieber was named Best Male Pop Artist, while KATSEYE won New Artist of the Year, Best Music Video for Gnarly, and Breakthrough Pop Artist. Despite receiving eight nominations, Taylor Swift did not win any awards at the ceremony.
The 52nd edition of the American Music Awards was hosted by Queen Latifah. BTS, Sabrina Carpenter, KPop Demon Hunters, Sombr, Justin Bieber, and KATSEYE were among the night's big winners, showcasing the diverse talent and achievements in the music industry.
