Chicago Police Officers Struck by Driver in Disturbing Incident: Latest Updates and Safety Tracker
In the early hours of Sunday, a disturbing incident occurred in Chicago as five police officers were hit by a driver while trying to disperse a crowd. The incident took place on S. Loomis Street around 3:20 a.m. The officers were walking on foot to break up a large gathering when a driver in a blue car traveling in the wrong direction struck them.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, continued driving after hitting the officers, eventually crashing into a CPD squad car, a pole, and a fence. Despite the chaos, the driver emerged unscathed and was promptly taken into custody. A firearm was discovered in the vehicle, adding another layer of concern to the situation.
All five officers involved in the incident were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention. Fortunately, they are expected to recover from their injuries. Charges against the driver are currently pending as the investigation unfolds.
