Shooting Incident at Wake County Courthouse: Woman Allegedly Fires Shots at Attorneys

A dramatic incident unfolded in North Carolina as a woman allegedly fired shots at two attorneys outside the Wake County Courthouse. Gwendolyn E. White, 57, is facing charges of attempted murder for the shooting that occurred following a civil hearing involving White and the town of Rolesville. The attorneys, Mary Harris and Jeffrey Whitley, representing the town, were injured in the shooting and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The shooting took place in downtown Raleigh after White was reportedly asked to leave the courthouse due to her behavior during the hearing. White later returned in her vehicle and allegedly opened fire on the attorneys outside the building. Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended White at the scene, leading to a lockdown of the courthouse and closures of nearby streets for investigation.
The town of Rolesville expressed deep concern over the incident, acknowledging the long-standing representation of the town by Fox Rothschild, the law firm where the injured attorneys work. Mary Harris, a recent graduate of North Carolina State University and Campbell University Law School, and Jeffrey Whitley, a Duke University School of Law graduate, were both recognized for their legal expertise in civil litigation.
As the investigation continues, it remains unclear if any ruling was made in the civil case prior to the shooting. Gwendolyn E. White is currently in custody without bond and is set to appear in court on May 26 to face the criminal charges. The community and legal community are left shocked by the violent turn of events, and thoughts are with all those affected by the incident.
