Minnesota Child Care Assistance Program Fraud Case: Woman Charged in Feeding Our Future Scandal

Federal prosecutors have brought forth the initial criminal fraud case linked to Minnesota's Child Care Assistance Program against a woman previously implicated in the Feeding Our Future fraud scandal. Fahima Egeh Mahamud is now facing a charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States for allegedly receiving millions in CCAP funds without collecting mandatory co-payments from parents. In February, Mahamud was charged with wire fraud in connection to the $250 million Feeding Our Future meal fraud scheme.

The alleged fraudulent activities attributed to Mahamud were conducted through her business, Future Leaders Early Learning Center in Minneapolis. During the pandemic, Future Leaders reportedly obtained $854,000 in Federal Child Nutrition Program reimbursements under Feeding Our Future's sponsorship. From 2022 to 2025, Mahamud and Future Leaders submitted over 13,000 claims through CCAP, with 6,144 claims requiring co-payments resulting in $4.6 million in reimbursements.

In a recent development, federal authorities executed 22 search warrants at autism and childcare centers across Minnesota, excluding Future Leaders from the publicly disclosed sites.
